BHAGALPUR/FORBESGANJ: BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the youths in 18-28 age group to support him for their better future. “Desh ke naujawano aap mere saath chalein, main aapka bhagya badal doonga,” he said while stumping for party candidate Shahnawaz Hussain at Sandy’s Compound in Bhagalpur.
Seeking support for 300 BJP seats in the Lok Sabha to provide a strong government, Modi appealed to Bihar electorate to return all the 40 NDA candidates to Parliament.
“Dilli mey majboot sarkar ke liye 300 kamal khila kar bhejiye aur Bihar ki sabhi seaton par kamal (BJP), jhopri (LJP) aur pankha (RLSP) ko jitayen (give BJP 300 seats and elect all the NDA candidates from Bihar),” he said.
Touching emotional chord with the locals, he started his speech in ‘Angika’ (spoken in Bhagalpur district and adjoining areas).
In a direct attack on Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, Modi said Congress politics is only to serve the interest of one (Gandhi) family and the extra-constitutional power of ‘mother-son’ paralysed the country’s progress. “Ab bahut ho chuka, humlog desh ko inhey lootne nahi denge (it’s enough; we won’t allow them to ruin the country),” he said.
Making fun of Rahul as a ‘balak mann’ (childlike), he said the ‘shehzada’ speaks of ‘gubbara’ (balloon) and toffee only whereas he should rise above these things to do some serious talking. Referring to ‘The Accidental Prime Minister: The Making and Unmaking Of Manmohan Singh’, Modi said, “It is now clear that the mother-son had usurped the PM’s power and shut him up on major issues. saara paap maa-betey ka hai (every wrongdoing has been done by mother-son combine).”
Accusing his opponents, including Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar in Bihar, for talking non-serious issues like preventing him from coming to power, Modi said why these people don’t speak about corruption, scams, price rise, inflation, national security, unemployment or other problems plaguing the country.
Referring to the newly formed ‘front’ in which Nitish Kumar, Mulayam Singh and communist parties are partners, Modi said they were trying to prop up Congress through backdoor.
Addressing another meeting at Forbesganj, he warned the electorate against the corrupt Congress and its opportunistic alliances. Referring to serial blasts at Patna before his October 27 rally last year, Modi said he was indebted to Bihar and its people for his being alive.
Those who also spoke were Pradip Singh, Dilip Jaiswal and Vishwamohan Kumar, BJP candidates from Araria, Kishanganj and Supaul, respectively.
